Social Security Disability Claims

The Cowen Law Group kicked off 2011 by unveiling a new service: helping people with their disability claims.

“We have represented a lot of clients who suffered debilitating injuries because of someone else’s negligence,” said Mike Blanchard, an attorney at The Cowen Law Group. “Some of our clients are unable to work and, because of that inability to work, suffer extreme hardship without a steady income. We realized we could help those clients both with their cases against the responsible parties and with securing a viable path toward a self-reliant future.”

Blanchard said lawyers will help clients throughout all stages of their disability claim with the Social Security Administration.

“We will help you apply, assist you with all the paperwork and make sure your appeals are filed on time,” Blanchard said.

He said applying for social security disability and SSI benefits, with or without an attorney, can be tedious and difficult due to the bureaucratic tangle of federal forms, the time a claim may take, and the high probability of it being denied.

“Those who are denied their disability claim can win benefits by going through the appeals process,” Blanchard said. “To increase the chances of winning, applicants should learn about the system and file an appeal when a claim is denied. We will help clients navigate the often confusing maze of federal forms and requirements.”

 The Cowen Law Group already offers top-level representation for people involved in automobile-truck crashes. Because many of those clients were still in need of legal services due to their injuries, Blanchard said, the firm decided to expand its services.

“We will deliver outstanding service and tenacious representation,” Blanchard said. “We will help our clients gather all necessary documentation including a thorough review of medical records as well as to protect our clients’ rights to fair hearings and appeals.”

Blanchard said many families in the Rio Grande Valley would benefit from the free initial consultation to determine eligibility.
