Number of people seriously injured in Texas car crashes: 84,508
Number of traffic deaths: 3,468
Average crashes per day: 1,198
Average crashes per month: 236,454
One reportable crash occurred every 72 second

Passenger cars: 384,345
Trucks of all types: 410,749
Tractor-trailers: 39,559

Fatal Crashes:
Number of fatal collisions: 3,109
Number of highway fatalities: 3,468
One person was killed every two hours
There were no days without traffic deaths.
In Texas, there were 1.41 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles travelled. The U.S rate for 2007 was 1.28 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles.
