A: The Association of Plaintiffs Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America offers a board certification in Interstate Trucking Law. To become board certified, an attorney must show that he or she is competent, knowledgeable, and experienced in handling trucking cases. The requirements include handling a certain number of trucking cases, getting recommendations from other attorneys and judges familiar with how the lawyer handles 18-wheeler cases, and pass a comprehensive written test.
Consumers who hired a lawyer board certified in Interstate Trucking Law can be assured that their attorney is familiar with the ins and outs of trucking cases. As of January 27, 2010, Michael Cowen is the only attorney in Texas to have earned this board certification.
