How are 18-wheeler truck accidents cases different than normal car wreck cases?

A: Many people, including many auto accident attorneys, make the mistake of treating 18-wheeler truck crash cases just like normal auto accident claims.  This mistake can cost the injured victim big time.

The first big difference is that there is much more of a need to act fast in 18-wheeler truck cases.  For example, many big rigs are equipped with GPS units or crash data "black box" recorders.  This electronic data can be critical in proving whether the crash was a simple accident, or the result of an unsafe trucking company or a reckless truck driver.  However, this information is often deleted in the days and weeks after a wreck.  If truck accident victims don't quickly hire an attonrney knowledgable and experienced in trucking litigation, he or she may forever lost the chance to get this information.  Too many cases settle cheaply because the victim waited too long, or hired a lawyer who did not know how to properly handle a trucking case.
