Confidential Settlement In 18-Wheeler Crash

In November 2009, The Cowen Law Group reached a confidential settlement in a major truck accident case.  The wreck occurred then an 18-wheeler slammed into the back our our client's car in San Antonio, Texas.

The Cowen Law Group was brought in soon after the crash, and moved quickly to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order to force the trucking company to preserve the evidence.  After downloading the data from the truck's crash data recorder (also known as a "black box"), the firm aggressively prosecuted the case, forcing the trucking company to produce documents including log books, delivery records, and GPS records.  Using these documents, we proved that the truck driver was on duty for too many hours at the time of the crash.  Worse, the trucking company had a pattern of allowing its driver to falsify documents and drive more hours than allowed by law.

Armed with this evidence, we were able to secure a substantial settlement for our clients within months of the wreck.  Due to the amount of the settlement and nature of the evidence, the settlement is confidential.
