$1.4 million settlement for man injured by 18-Wheeler

Our client was rear-ended by an 18 wheeler in Laredo, Texas. He sustained neck and back injuries, eventually requiring more than one spine surgery. However, the trucking company denied that it caused the injuries because the property damage to the vehicle appeared to be minor. However, we had the body shop employees show that the frame on our client's vehicle was bent. We argued that if the impact was hard enough to bend a thick steel frame, it was hard enough to injure a person's back and neck. We also investigated the truck driver's background, and found that with his driving record he should never have been hired to drive a truck in the first place. With this information in hand, we were able to get our client the settlement he deserved.

Attorneys' fees were $560,000.00, and litigation expenses were $88,556.80.  The case involved 31 depositions and multiple expert witnesses including experts in accident reconstruction, biomechanics, economics, life care planning, medicine, psychology, and vocational rehabilitation.

Awarded: $1,400,000 settlement. Client sustained herniated discs in the back and neck, and underwent several surgeries. Attorneys' fees were $560,000, and litigation expenses were $88,556.
